 I joined 100hookup about two years ago at the encouragement of a colleague who had met her husband through 100hookup. I was just getting over a divorce at the time and was both nervous and excited to get back into the dating scene. I went on some great dates and met some great guys, but nothing serious ever came of any of them.
In August 2003, I saw a profile for "AussieGuy." My first thought, of course, was "I hope he has that great Aussie accent," which indeed he did. It turns out Rami was an Australian living in Long Island. He originally came here just to travel around the country, but wound up finding a great job and getting an apartment. We spoke on the phone a few times and agreed to meet for dinner. There was an instant connection between us, and we wound up sitting in the restaurant for almost five hours. We would have stayed longer if the restaurant hadn't closed!
We very quickly moved from casually dating to something much more serious. Before either of us knew what had hit us, we had fallen head over heels in love with each other. By December, I was pretty much living at his apartment. In March, Rami went back to Australia for his brother's wedding. During my Passover vacation, I flew to Australia to meet his family for the first time. Rami surprised me at the airport with an engagement ring!
We got married in a small civil ceremony on July 11, 2004 in New Jersey. We will be having the religious ceremony and a huge reception in Australia next July. (For immigration purposes, the rabbi said it is simpler to do the civil ceremony in the United States than it is to do it in Australia, since I'm not an Australian citizen and we don't plan to live there.) We couldn't possibly be happier!
