We both joined 100hookup looking for that special someone. We were both tired of failed relationships and wanted to settle down. At the time Mike lived in Albany, NY and I lived in Brooklyn. Mike sent me a “Flirt” after reading my profile, and after a week of talking on the phone, we met for the first time. Mike took the train down from Albany to Brooklyn and stayed for Shabbat in a hotel. We had an amazing weekend full of laughter, talking, cuddling, and eating delicious foods in the park while lying on the grass in the sunshine.
They say that sometimes you just know when someone is right for you. I think we just "knew" that we were meant to be together. We are alike in so many ways, but different enough that it never gets boring. After dating for about a month, Mike proposed to me! We were both ready to make the jump into marriage, start a family and create a new life together as one. He proposed by putting a recorded voice into the koala bear we were making at Build-A-Bear that said, "Gittel, will you marry me?" Of course, I said “yes” and we dressed the bear in a wedding dress.
Looking back, we feel that our success in finding each other was because we were both very honest in our profiles. There is nothing worse than starting a relationship based on lies. Our honesty with each other is what allows our love to flourish.
