Dating Face-Off: The San Diego Version
Ahhhhh San Diego! Known as “America’s Finest City,” it’s also the best place to be single and hookup in the country all year round. With plenty of opportunities to play and party, you can find something different to do on every date. And finding a date? There’s no better place than the city Anchorman’s Ron Burgundy calls “the whale’s vagina” because San Diego has plenty of hookup fish in the Pacific Ocean. Add to that the burgeoning medical and technology field, and you have so many transplants that you can find someone from anywhere in the world, even a Raiders fan. And when you mix in the perfect climate, you have a 100hookup match made in 72-degrees-and-clear-skies heaven.
People may move here for the weather, but they stay for the lifestyle. Where else can you surf and ski in the same day? And how amazing would that date be? There truly is something for everyone here. Outdoor enthusiasts can hike Cowles Mountain, take a whale watching tour off the Port of San Diego, or go apple picking in Julian. The sporty adventure types can drive out to Mountain High to hit the snow, take paddle boarding or snorkeling lessons in La Jolla or even take to the skies at the Torrey Pines Glider Port. Of course, there’s always a Chargers or Padres game to attend for those who would rather watch the action than take part in it. Foodies can get messy at Phil’s BBQ (rated one of the Top 5 Barbeque Restaurants in the U.S. on Yelp!), test out a Top Chef restaurant (Searsucker, Burlap, Herringbone, etc.), or chow down at any other number of five-star gourmet eateries. Romantics have a more than ample supply of places to visit in San Diego, from watching the sunset at Mt. Soledad (or any other view point along Interstate 5), having a picnic or bonfire on the beach, catching a fireworks show at Qualcomm Stadium or Sea World, eating at one of the many beautiful restaurants overlooking the ocean, catching a live music performance, and, of course, the timeless (albeit generic) walk on the beach – San Diego has 70 miles of coastline to mosey down while holding hands!
But first, you’ve gotta find a date. There are currently more than 30,000 100hookuprs® in San Diego. That means there are plenty of people who have the same interests as you (outdoorsy, sports, foodie, etc.) and taking advantage of all that San Diego has to offer is guaranteed fun! Planning a date shouldn’t be stressful, especially when you have so many options to choose from. Go to Balboa Park where you can spend an entire day walking through the museums, exploring the zoo and eating at the restaurants. Head to Little Italy and wander through art galleries before indulging in some delicious Italian food followed by a bowl of refreshing gelato. Check out Solana Beach and window-shop expensive furniture for your pretend future mansion, then grab some sushi and spontaneously catch whichever band is playing at the Belly Up.
If you aren’t ready for a full day’s date and want something active yet easy, try East Village Tavern where can go bowling, watch sports on any of the gazillion TVs, grab a beer and split a plate of nachos. Head down to Prospect in The Village and go to any number of rooftop restaurants during Happy Hour where they have live music and you can enjoy the sunset while toasting with one of their signature cocktails. The last thing you need on a first date is pressure, which is why San Diego – with its laidback culture, perfect weather and countless amazing venues – is the best place to date in the country!
If SD is all that…I’d enjoy seeing some San Diegans’ profiles. Happy to fly for the right one!
