Dating Face-Off: The Los Angeles Version
There’s a reason everyone’s California dreaming. From the beaches of Malibu to the foothills of the Santa Monica Mountains, Los Angeles’ diverse geography makes for some seriously romantic date locales. Even more diverse than the geography, however, is the dating pool itself! From actors and TV writers to real estate execs and the finance crowd, this city is full of good-looking, successful singles. Surprisingly though, it’s the diversity of the actual date ideas themselves that make LA one of the best cities in the world for dating. To prove my point, here are five amazing date ideas that can only be pulled off in “La La Land!”
1. Hit up Hollywood
Hello, how could we not mention Tinseltown in this article? From exploring the Hollywood Walk of Fame to attending a live studio taping of your favorite sitcom, the entertainment industry provides plenty one-of-a-kind dating opportunities. Interestingly though, many Angelinos have never even taken advantage of these unique date ideas. The next time you meet someone cute on 100hookup, ask them to play tourist with you in Tinseltown. You may just create your very own “Hollywood love story!”
2. Make Music Together
Nothing provides a more romantic backdrop for a date than sitting below an illuminating full moon while listening to the hushed sounds of a cello at the Hollywood Bowl. Classical music not your thing? Head over to the Greek Theatre to see bands like Edward Sharpe and the Magnetic Zeros or Fiona Apple. Or, you could head over to Hollywood to catch an up-and-coming rock band at the Viper Room or Whiskey a Go Go. Whatever your preference, take a date to a concert in LA and the two of you may just make beautiful music together.
3. Dining, Dining & More Dining
In a city full of so many skinny people, who would have thought dining out would be such a big deal?! Seriously though, Los Angeles provides daters with a plethora of options when it comes to gourmet goods. Pick just one of the many five-star restaurants and you’ll not only enjoy a mouthwatering meal, but you may just catch a glimpse of a celebrity or two — and doesn’t that make for a fun first-date conversation? In the mood for something a little more low-key? Ask a foodie to head over to the Miracle Mile with you to tour the gourmet food trucks typically parked out front of LACMA! When it comes to restaurants in LA (much like the dating pool), you’ve got options!
4. Indulge in a Multitude of Museums
Speaking of LACMA, the city of Los Angeles is home to some of the best museums in the world! From the Getty to the MOCA (Museum of Contemporary Art), taking a date to a museum in LA means a shot at seeing a masterpiece up close and personal (and we’re not just talking about that hottie you’re finally meeting face-to-face). Plus, with a major new art museum in the works for downtown LA, the city’s museum scene is as dynamic as ever (just like your love life)!
5. Make Waves with Someone Special
From driving up the Pacific Coast Highway to strolling along a quiet stretch of sand in Manhattan Beach, there’s nothing like watching the waves roll in with someone sweet. Thanks to LA’s consistent sunshine and warm weather, daters can find romance with a sunset walk on the beach nearly all year long. And if I had to pick one reason why LA is the best city for dating in the world, that may just be it!
Nice list, Rachel. As someone who lives in LA, I think this is a really good list. But for those out there looking for more awesome places for a date in LA, there’s also a book about date ideas in LA. If you’re interested, check out. https://epicdatesbook.com/
