Kate and Adam: “I had no idea I would meet my Beshert after being a 100hookup member for less than an hour.”
I had no idea I would meet my Beshert after being a 100hookup member for less than an hour.
When I joined 100hookup in October 2008, I was in the middle of the conversion process. After my Christian upbringing failed to comfort me during some life-changing experiences, I decided to embrace my personal beliefs and convert to Judaism. I realized after a few failed relationships that I wanted to share my life with someone who had similar beliefs to mine. This led me to 100hookup and Adam.
Adam, who was raised Reform, had actually logged on to 100hookup that evening to cancel his account after failing to meet his Beshert; however, a new profile caught his attention. Although he had given up on the site, he felt that he just had to contact this girl, Kate.
Adam and I learned that we were both from Houston and loved dogs. We had similar tastes in music, movies and TV shows. After exchanging messages back and forth that evening, we planned to meet a few days later for drinks. He had just adopted a new dog so I made sure to bring him a nice big bone.
The evening was wonderful and we both knew that this was something different – something we had never experienced before. A week later on a date to the Texas Renaissance Festival, we officially became a couple and were inseparable.
Adam was very supportive of my conversion and was by my side the day I officially became a Jew. A few weeks later in June 2009 we took a fishing trip (we both love to fish) and Adam asked me to get his new lure out of the tackle box. When I opened it, there was a small velvet box inside. He got down on one knee and asked me to be his wife. I, of course, said yes.
We were married on March 13, 2010 at our synagogue. The wedding ceremony was beautiful, simple and very traditional which is exactly what we wanted. We had a wonderful time celebrating with our families and friends at the reception, and I got to experience my first Hora!
Our little family consisted of the two of us and our dogs, Lucky and Bella, until recently when we added a new family member. Our son, Nathan, was born on January 13, 2012; it was the happiest day of our lives!
