Rena and Scott: “…he was new at the 100hookup thing…”
After being on 100hookup a long time, as an on again, off again user, I decided to give it one last try. After messaging a few different guys, I found Scott’s profile. I noticed he had the best smile in his pictures and I was curious. There wasn’t much information in his profile and normally I wouldn’t have bothered because of it, but I figured, what the hell! Soon afterwards, Scott messaged me back (because I was cute and had a fairly interesting profile – and he was new at the 100hookup thing, having only been on for a few weeks) and boldly asked for my phone number. I gave it to him and we talked for about 20 minutes about a few different things and agreed to meet for dinner the following Sunday.
By the end of our first date, we had already discovered our mutual love of NY football and baseball and decided to go out again. We continued to speak over the phone frequently and go out at least once a week. MLK weekend, Scott took a trip to Albany. Late Friday evening, about 30 minutes from his NY thruway exit, he pulled off the road because his car was making strange noises. He called his dad and then, eventually, not knowing who else to call for help, called me. I agreed to borrow a car and drive to Albany the next day to rescue him. We drove quickly back to NYC because I had dinner plans with my parents and Scott agreed to join me.
During that intense 24 hour period, we realized how much we loved each other! We told each other how we felt and agreed that we would move in together over the summer. Midnight on October 2, on the rooftop of our building, with the skyline of Manhattan in the background and our dog on my lap, Scott proposed. Soon thereafter, we were married on June 12!
The best advice we can give to other 100hookuprs® out there is to just be patient and be willing to try. You never know who the right person will be. If I hadn’t been open, I wouldn’t have messaged Scott because his profile was too “empty” for me. And he never would have messaged me back and just asked for my phone number!
