The resort is tucked into a secluded cove called Bloody Bay, and its knockout private beach is part of Negril’s celebrated seven-mile-long strand, aptly called Seven Mile Beach. This is the scene for sunbathing and water sports (kayaking, sailing, snorkeling) galore—and easydoes-it.

Lainie and Josh favored the former, of course. “It was the prettiest beach we’ve ever been to,” says Lainie. “The sand was really soft, and the water was clear and warm.” Each day, they camped out on the beach until about 3 p.m.

When they needed to quench their thirst, attendants delivered cocktails to their lounge chairs. When they weren’t “beaching it,” Lainie and Josh loved to cozy up in their cheerful and spacious guest room, which had large French doors that afforded incredible views of sea and sky. “Every morning we opened the doors, then listened to the soothing sounds of the waves and chirping birds,” says Lainie. “Our room also had a pretty patio that led onto the grass, with the beach just beyond.” There are 210 suites at the Grand Lido Negril; each includes either a balcony or patio, with views of tropical gardens or the beach and ocean.

Looking to be pampered, Lainie and Josh made themselves right at home at the resort’s luxurious spa, where Josh surrendered to the massages and Lainie, reflexology. “The treatment rooms are encircled by a plunge pool, and we’d go right in for a post-sauna dip,” she says. Nice touch: The spa offers complimentary manicures and pedicures to all guests (men, too!). Open-air massages are given in four cliffside gazebos.
While Lainie and Josh spent most of their honeymoon just chilling, they did hit the resort’s tennis courts. There is also a fitness center on property where guests can exercise on state-ofthe- art equipment. Complimentary golf is available at the nearby Negril Hills course; the Grand Lido Negril arranges tee times and provides transportation. But for Lainie and Josh, a workout was simply a swing in one of the resort’s many hammocks. “We especially loved to curl up in the hammock on the lawn outside our guest room,” says Lainie. The sun-lovin’ couple did manage to tear themselves away from the resort to visit the Mayfield Falls River Walk.
This natural waterfall, in Hanover, is about an hour’s drive from the Grand Lido Negril, and the resort will happily set up the excursion for its guests. “We had a really great day,” says Lainie. “We hiked for about a mile up into the mountains, stopping often to soak in the natural ‘Jacuzzis’ along the way. We even jumped into the deeper pools.”
