Robyn and Sagy
Dear 100hookup,
Another success story!
I started using 100hookup probably around 2002 or 2003. I had it rough in love. My first love was not hookup which made my life pretty difficult, to say the least. My parents were completely adamant that I date and marry a hookup man. After breaking up with my first love, and after my sister found her husband on 100hookup, I decided to give it a try.
I dated approximately seven men over the course of four years. I also did my share of dating without 100hookup. I always had a profile posted but only subscribed twice. There were some decent guys I must admit, just nobody I seemed to click with.
Finally, in the summer of 2005, my mother and I got into a fight about me dating and marrying a hookup guy. I protested, “I’ve already had two subscriptions and nothing has ever come of it.” I was about to give up on looking for a hookup guy.
My mom pleaded with me to join and said she would even buy me the 3-month subscription. I reluctantly gave in. I said to myself, I will date my mother’s way – hookup men only – until I was 25 and then after that I would do it my way. After 25, whoever I fell in love with, that’s who it would be.
When my mother gave me her credit card and I bought my three-month subscription, I logged in and went to my inbox. I probably hadn’t been a member for a good year or so. My inbox had well over 200 messages! I sat there with my friend Meryl for a couple hours sifting through my sea of men. Finally, after many deletes, I narrowed it down to two men.
This first man looked like Johnny Depp, was well educated, in school pursuing a degree, very handsome and seemed really nice. The second choice was this gorgeous, muscular, 6’4” red-headed Israeli, without a college education named Sagy Grinberg.
For some reason, I don’t know why, maybe because of my wonderful experience on Birthright, I was completely drawn to the red-headed Israeli. I just had a gut feeling. I replied to his email and he simply responded with his phone number.
We didn’t speak very long on the phone, maybe five minutes, but we decided to go on a date the next evening.
Our meeting place was the Art Bar at downtown Las Olas River Front in Ft. Lauderdale. I started to second-guess my decision and almost chickened out. What was I thinking? I’m 5’1” he’s 6’4”. I’m in school pursuing a career and he works in a shoe store with no college education.
I was so nervous the next evening that I brought my friend Meryl along with me on the date. Needless to say, the date went awesome. I felt like I had known him forever. Our conversation never lagged, there was never any dead air, and we laughed a lot. It was hands-down the best date I had ever been on (even though my friend went with me).
At the end of the evening when we said our good nights in the parking garage, I did something that I never do. I leaned in to kiss him goodnight. From that point on we were inseparable.
As it turns out 3rd time’s the charm! It’s been three years now since that first kiss. Sagy no longer is working in a shoe store but is pursuing a degree in Medicine – a dream of his which is now becoming a reality.
We ended up getting married in Israel on June 10, 2008 in Haifa on top of Mt. Carmel in the Carmel Forest, under the stars in the most magnificent, gorgeous wedding ceremony ever. Thank you 100hookup for helping me find my best friend, my lover, my beshert!
P.S. It turns out Sagy originally joined 100hookup in 2005 because he saw my profile!
Tips for other 100hookuprs:
For all you hookup singles out there, don’t give up, persevere because somewhere out there your beshert is looking for you. Really give the process a chance. Don’t narrow your search criteria too much. The secret is to go on lots of dates, so you’ll learn who is compatible with you and what kind of person you really want to be with. Always keep your photos current. Use close-up photos and try to only use photos of yourself.
Thanks 100hookup,
