Robin and Adam: “We Began Chatting Via 100hookup Emails…”
Part I
Who would have thought that the phrase “You have a nice smile” could be the spark that ignites an incredible connection between two people looking for “The One”?
(Robin) It had been three and a half years since my first husband had passed and all my mom wanted for her 60th birthday was for me to smile again. I decided to try 100hookup and find that special someone. As I began searching, my sister asked if she could see some of the profiles and pictures of 100hookuprs I showed interest in. One stood out for my sister, and I started reading the entire entry. I promised her I would send him a very short hello.
(Adam) I had been a 100hookup member for a few years. I had some good dates, and some bad dates. At times it was frustrating and I thought of giving up. But then, in my inbox was a sweet message from Robin that was short and to the point: “You have a nice smile.” After viewing her profile and photos I thought I’d give it a shot, so I thanked her for the compliment and we began chatting via 100hookup emails and progressed to phone conversations. But it wasn’t so easy. Due to our conflicting work schedules, we played phone tag for a couple of weeks (Robin still has one of those messages saved on her cell phone). Finally, we set a date and time to meet in person for the first time.
(Robin) In response to his invitation to having a cocktail or coffee, we decided to meet at Dunkin’ Donuts. We hit it off immediately and we quickly began a special friendship that grew into a warm, caring and loving relationship. When we were dating, neither of us ever wanted the nights to end. Eventually, we would see each other every day of the week. Finally, Adam was finding every excuse to stay with me each night.
(Adam) One night Robin and I called her mom to wish her well on a cruise she was taking the next morning out of Fort Lauderdale, Fla. Then I remembered that my dad and stepmother were going on a cruise the next day as well. We called my dad and he told us he was leaving from Fort Lauderdale as well, and told us the name of the ship. Wouldn’t you know it — Robin’s mom was going on the same trip! How’s that for fate — her mom and my dad would meet before we met each other’s parent. Sure enough, they met up a number of times throughout the cruise.
(Robin) The more time we spent together, the more we realized that this was not just a relationship for the time being, but for a lifetime. Both of us smiled so much that our friends and family would ask “When is the wedding?” On April Fool’s Day 2011, we drove to one of our favorite places in Atlantic City, The Tropicana. We had dinner in our favorite Italian restaurant and then headed to the blackjack tables. At about 11:30 p.m., Adam tells me that his contacts are bothering him and that he is running upstairs to get his contact solution. At about 12:05 a.m. on April 2, Adam returned and asked me to marry him at the blackjack table; and I continued playing because I was in shock! Later we made all of the phone calls and most were so excited for us that they cheered and cried of happiness. Adam, my sister, and mom planned the wedding as I watched and agreed to everything. I was far from a bridezella! The most challenging part of planning a wedding never occurred because Adam and I were so easy about every decision. Our wedding day was all that we could have asked for. To this day, our friends and family say it was the best and most fun wedding that they ever attended. For our honeymoon, we flew to Florida where we stayed for one night and left for a seven-day cruise on the Oasis of the Seas. Our honeymoon was incredible and perfect!
Part II
(Adam) It’s been over a year since we wrote Part 1, and we are extremely happy to say that we are extremely happy! We are getting ready to celebrate our second anniversary and we still feel like newlyweds. We purchased our first home back in September in a beautiful condo complex on the north shore of Long Island and will soon be enjoying weekends together at the pool. Before I met Robin, I had rarely traveled, pretty much sticking to visiting relatives. But since we’ve been together, we have been to Las Vegas three times (we’ll be going back a fourth time to celebrate our anniversary), Puerto Rico and New Orleans, plus we went on another Caribbean cruise. Every day is an adventure with Robin and we have this saying: We’d enjoy each other’s company, even if we were stranded on a rock.
(Robin) After being married for almost two years, I realized how important it is to have a lifetime partner to share the ups and downs. From vacations to doctor’s appointments to hospital stays to weekend adventures to hot hands at the blackjack table to celebrations, Adam has been the best partner in crime and the best friend I ever could have dreamed of. He tells me all the time that I make him a better person and I know he does the same for me. Thanks to 100hookup, we both have found the love of our life, our soul mate and our best friend.
Part III
(Robin and Adam) We’ve now been married three years and four months, and we are still as happy as the day we both said, “I love you!”
