4 Ways to Give Your Love Life an Edge in 2015
With the New Year upon us, online dating is on the rise. Countless people want to find that special someone as their New Year’s resolution – and that likely includes you! If you’re resolving to find love in 2015, then here are four ways to improve your dating in the New Year.
1. Resolve to Meet New People & Date
The Journal of Clinical Psychology says that people who make explicit resolutions are ten times more likely to succeed than those who don’t. So, when writing your resolutions, pick something specific like: ‘I will write 5 prospective matches on 100hookup each week’ or ‘I will go out to places where I can meet singles twice a month in 2015.’
2. Share a New Year’s Kiss
Surveys reveal that two-thirds of Americans expect to share a kiss with someone on New Year’s Eve. If you are talking to someone at a NYE event for awhile, you can always ask if they want you to be their New Year’s kiss… but make sure you have their consent! This could be a romantic and memorable way to begin your new relationship.
3. Give a New Year’s Gift
Who doesn’t love a gift that is reflective of themselves and their unique tastes? Find an appropriate context within which to offer a gift to someone special who may make a good match. This might be a good way to show you care and appreciate someone. Offer up something small, but sweet, including: a bottle of wine, a New Year’s bouquet, or a new set of headphones for someone whose resolution includes hitting the gym more often.
4. Leverage Valentine’s Day
A Harris Poll revealed that being single on Valentine’s Day is surprisingly harder for men. The poll asked respondents if they would rather have a root canal than be single on Valentine’s Day; one out of four men (24 percent) chose the root canal. That’s compared to only 16 percent of women.
Many people are more open to finding love around Valentine’s Day – reach out to someone new and ask if they would like to share a low-key drink with you on 2/14. They may be relieved by your simple request… and who knows where it could lead!
The holidays are a time to appreciate the love you have in your life and New Year’s is a time to take action to move your life in the direction that you want it to go. The list above includes a few fun ways to help you use this time of year to your advantage, but I do hope you will use this fresh beginning to create what you most want in your life.
