Rebecca and Adam: “I’m so glad I didn’t give up on 100hookup…”
Our journey began on a fateful Friday evening in March 2009. After having survived many 100hookups, I was ready to meet someone special. We agreed to meet at a local bar/restaurant on the Upper East Side, and our drinks date turned into the longest first date I ever had. We had drinks, dinner, and then went to meet up with some of Adam’s friends who were in town visiting that night. We didn’t want the evening to end – and wound up spending the entire weekend together.
As soon as I met Adam, I knew he was special and we connected immediately. He was kind, generous, and, most importantly, he made me laugh. He still jokes that I “grilled him” during our first date, but I had to be selective.
Adam and I had an instant connection, and spent a lot of time together over the next several months. I was impressed that he called me to make plans and didn’t rely on texting. He made me feel special, and I felt like the best version of myself when I was around him. We met each other’s friends, families, and soon began to recognize our relationship was special and meant to last.
After about one year of dating, I moved into Adam’s apartment and we made it a shared home. Soon after moving in together we adopted an adorable two-year-old pug. It was so much fun sharing this new responsibility with Adam, and it was then that I felt like we were creating a family in our new home.
In April of 2011, Adam surprised me with a romantic proposal. He cooked a great dinner and set the table perfectly. After dinner he said that he got me a surprise (a baked good that I could finally eat as Passover had just ended). I opened up the box to find a small chocolate cake with the words, “Say Yes” written across the top. I looked to my left and found Adam down on one knee with a ring in his hand.
We were engaged for a little over one year and were married in River Vale, New Jersey in a beautiful garden ceremony. We were surrounded by our amazing family and friends, and it was such a special day. After our magical wedding, we embarked on our honeymoon adventure, traveling along Italy’s Amalfi Coast.
We will soon be celebrating our one-year wedding anniversary. I’m so glad I didn’t give up on 100hookup; I would have never had the opportunity to meet the love of my life. Adam and I have fun doing nothing together, as we are not only husband and wife, but best friends. I know there is nothing I can’t handle as long as he is by my side. I can’t wait to continue our journey together and to see what the future brings!
