David and Meredith met in 2007 after talking online for about a month. Meredith had recently moved back to the Bay Area and was interested in making some new friends.

What was supposed to be a two-hour date turned into to a six-hour long conversation over dinner and dessert followed by a realization that garages in San Francisco close at midnight, not 2am. During the date, Meredith broke all conventional rules and told David that she had just gotten out of a really bad breakup and was not looking for a relationship, but rather a good friend. Both realized that there was something special developing between them but also knew that the timing wasn’t right for either of them to start a relationship, so they chose to become friends.

A year later, Meredith started a physics course required for applying to medical school. The moment that her teacher pulled out a napkin with notes on it, she knew that she would need some sort of tutoring help. David, who had just recently completed his doctorate in Mechanical Engineering, was happy to help. They began meeting every other week to go over sample problems. Meredith’s friends asked if David would be willing to do a group tutoring session every other week. David agreed.

Because both of them lived about an hour away from the rest of the classmates, Meredith and David started carpooling up to Berkeley from San Jose. These hour long drives gave them a chance to build their friendship and allow it to develop into a remarkable relationship. What started in the beginning as meetings in a parking lot to drive up together, quickly turned into going out to dinner, movies, and (Meredith’s favorite) Sharks games.

On May 15, 2009, David and Meredith admitted to themselves and each other that the feelings between them were more than just a friendship and that there was something special developing. While neither of them could have realized what was to come, both were excited to start the journey.

On May 20, 2011 David proposed to Meredith. Both of them are very excited to commit to each other in front of friends, family and G-d on July 6, 2013.
