After a rather bad breakup and an outpouring of friends trying to set me up, I began to think “… Maybe love isn’t for me.”
It was not until my mother told me that she saw all the 100hookup commercials on TV and thought I should give it a try that I decided to join 100hookup. She even offered to pay for my subscription!
I decided to browse for free just to see if my potential partner might possibly be out there. Upon browsing, this one profile stood out to me. The guy’s smile had for the first time left me thinking. So, I purchased a subscription. Yes, at first I was skeptical, but I decided it would be a different approach to dating. I signed up and began reading this one profile. We had so much in common: We lived about 45 minutes away from each other, I am a dental hygienist and he was a dentist, we both loved to cook, we love animals and most importantly it seemed we were both looking for the same thing. For the first time in a while, I felt that spark…just by reading a profile.
I knew I had to send a message. I was nervous and didn’t know how to make the first move. I remember messaging Jared with a simple “Hey, great smile!” A few days went by and I didn’t hear anything back from Jared. I began to feel discouraged, until one day while leaving work, I received a message back. From there, the messages started flowing back and forth between us.
We decided to meet up on a Thursday night about a few weeks from my initial “Hey, great smile!” I remember being so nervous driving to the restaurant where we were meeting. Upon meeting Jared, it was a feeling I had never felt. It was like looking and talking to that “perfect stranger.” It was a comfort and reassurance I had never felt.
One phone call a day became three phone calls a day. Weekend dates became weekday dates. Jared was beginning to become not only my boyfriend, but my best friend. Our relationship was a different relationship. We shared the best of times together and even some hardship together; but somehow, someway, we made it to one another.
Fourteen months later from our first date, we are now engaged! Jared proposed to me in Mexico! We will begin wedding planning and hopefully will wed summer of 2014!
Thank you, 100hookup, for making me a true believer in finding true, unconditional love online. I will forever be thankful for meeting my best friend.
