Beverly and Jay: “Joining 100hookup seemed a smart thing to do.”
Beverly’s Story:
My story actually began three years before I even thought of 100hookup. I had divorced my second husband (I was married to the first one for 13 years and the second for 20 years). I decided that I was through with men and would spend the rest of my days alone. In November of 2006, I attended the wedding of my daughter-in-law’s brother – alone. I wore a beautiful dress and felt really good about myself, but there I was all evening while everyone was dancing – sitting by myself. That night I felt depressed for the first time and by morning I had made the decision to try 100hookup. I was not familiar with the site and wasn’t really sure what to do, but I persevered and was able to get my account and profile done. I even figured out how to upload a photo of myself! Within a week I heard from several men in my area and started to go on some ‘dates.’ After a 20-year marriage, this was a whole new thing for me and I found the attention quite appealing.
During the first week of January, six possible matches appeared on my computer screen and one called out to me! When I read his profile, I immediately knew I had to get in touch with him. We were originally from the same city before we both moved to Toronto and had many things in common. His name was Jay and I sent him an email. We started to message back and forth. After about a week, he asked for my phone number so we could really talk. Shortly after we began to speak to each other, he asked me to meet him in person. Since he went to synagogue services on Saturday mornings, we agreed to meet at 1pm at the Tim Horton’s which was in the same plaza where he would be. I arrived about 10 minutes before he walked in and I recognized him right away from his profile photo. We had coffee and talked on and on and on!
Before we knew it, it was about 3:30pm and Jay asked what I would usually be doing on a Saturday afternoon. I told him I would be working out in the gym of my condo and I asked him if he would like to join me – to work out and to use the pool. He agreed that he would go back to his place to get shorts and swim trunks and he would meet me back at my condo. We spent the next four hours in the gym, the pool and the hot tub!
At about 7pm Jay realized we had not eaten so he invited me to a Thai restaurant for dinner. At about 9pm when we left the restaurant to go back to his car, Jay took hold of my hand and I felt tingly all over! He told me that he really didn’t want our date to end yet, so I invited him up to my place to watch a movie. By 1am we were both tired, so Jay left to go home — the end of a perfect day! We always smile when people ask us how we met and we tell them of our 12-hour first date!
From that day on, Jay and I have been together, and we know that it was a match that was Beshert. Jay is my soul mate (even though he just turned 62 and I just turned 71). On May 20, 2012, we had a wonderful wedding with our children, grandchildren, siblings, and friends. On June 29th, I retired from teaching after 40 years.
We love each other dearly and cherish every day that we have with each other, knowing that we will spend the rest of our lives together, thanks to 100hookup!
Jay’s story:
Joining 100hookup seemed a smart thing to do (after all, I’m proud of my faith, our heritage and wish to keep it). Plus, it was fun! There are a plethora of picture-perfect people there with oodles of stories to keep any bachelor going for years on end. Well, this bachelor dated a bevy of beauties (and others) to his heart’s content, but when this ‘Bevy’ came into his life, the others, alas, were soon forgotten.
I have never had a woman in my life for this long, with whom I still wanted to be. Bev is very special; she gives me the freedom to do all I want (motorcycling, B’nai Brith, ham radio events and others), so much so, that I cherish her more all the time. She is so good that way that there are times when I’d rather stay home and massage her feet, instead of being out and about. If ever (and it has happened) that she’ll say no about something, I can’t help but just acquiesce, gladly, knowing that if it means that much to her, I’d be selfish to make a fuss. She’s that good.
When I tell her that I am the lucky one in this relationship, she says, “No, I am!” and of course, with a smile.
