Lisa and Jason
Although our families tried to set us up from over 2,000 miles away, it took the modern technology of 100hookup to bring us together. Here’s how it happened…
After living in Milwaukee, Jason moved to San Diego for grad school. He had originally narrowed his 100hookup search to just his San Diego zip code (I was living in Orange County at the time). One night he decided to widen his zip code radius when he came upon my profile. I was searching my matches that night and noticed he looked at me, so I made the first move and winked at him.
About a month into our emails and phone calls, I realized the coincidence of Jason being from Milwaukee. I was born in California but both my parents and all my extended family were born and raised in Milwaukee, too.
I confided in my mom about the new guy that was sparking my interest when she suddenly shrieked to me, “What are his brother’s names?!” I asked Jason and, sure enough, it turned out we had more than just a few things in common: Jason’s parents are good friends with my aunt and uncle in Milwaukee. Jason’s dad performed cataract surgery on my grandma and her sister. Both sets of our parents went to the same high school in Milwaukee. AND Jason’s youngest brother is best friends with my first cousin through musical theater. In fact, at one of their high school plays in Milwaukee, my aunt and Jason’s mom even discussed setting the two of us up on a blind date in San Diego!
You can imagine our families’ shock, excitement and anticipation when our paths finally crossed on 100hookup and our relationship started to flourish. Pretty soon we were driving between San Diego and Irvine to see each other every weekend, the next step being to meet Jason’s family in Milwaukee during Thanksgiving. It was so easy and relaxed because we all felt like we knew each other already!
Two years later, Jason proposed to me on a bluff overlooking the San Diego coast. On August 2, 2009 —with our one big, happy family looking on—Jason’s middle brother, a rabbi, married us. Jason’s youngest brother and my cousin even sang together with the band at the wedding. It is truly Beshert.
