Fifine and Bernard
Dear 100hookup,
THANK YOU, thank you, thank you! Fifine and I were married in December. This is how the adventure began…
Fifine contacted me from Israel. Even though I live in Las Vegas, we wrote each other. I explained to her that I don’t usually write to people who do not live near me since there was no way we could meet for coffee or a drink. However, we continued to write and send pictures..
Now the amazing thing is that Fifine speaks French and Hebrew, but very little English. I only speak English. However, my computer can translate from French to English, so that is how we began.
After four months, I invited her to come to Las Vegas to meet and see if we were compatible. She accepted my invitation. We both knew that even if it didn’t work out we would have a nice time and she would go home. Well, it was an incredible visit. It was as if we had known each other for years. We were able to get past the language problems.
She left for Belgium to babysit her two grandchildren. By then, we were talking on the telephone every day. Even with the ten hour time difference, it worked out. We agreed on the most amazing adventure: I met her in Belgium and met her daughter, son-in-law, grandson and granddaughter.
We traveled and saw Belgium. Then we went to Paris and Israel. In Israel, we stayed in her house in Eilat, which is on the Red Sea. We traveled to so many places in Israel: Jerusalem, Ein Gedi, Masada, the Dead Sea, and Timna (King Soloman’s Mines). We went to Mount Sinai in Egypt, and it was amazing to see the history of our people. Then we went to Petra, Jordan. It is the most amazing place we have ever seen. (“Indiana Jones and the Last Crusade” was filmed there.) It is from the 6th century B.C.E. Temples and a city are carved out of the mountains. The Nabyteen Civilization ruled there, and it was their Caravans that traveled from there to Jerusalem and Egypt.
We decided to get married in Las Vegas. Fifine finalized her affairs and packed her things, and with nine pieces of luggage, we flew to New York and spent five days with my son and daughter-in-law and grandson in New Rochelle. We all got to meet and know each other.
Then we flew home to Las Vegas. We settled down as Fifine started bringing a woman’s touch into our home. Then in December, we were married in the synagogue, Congregation Nir Talmid, in the Rabbi’s study. The ceremony was beautiful, and we are so happy together. Thank you again for your help.
Sincerely,
Fifine & Bernard
Las Vegas, Nevada
Congratulations! and thank you; you have affirmed my belief that distance doesn’t have to be THE barrier.
